The Smattering, or Smat for short, is a student-centered snack bar and cafe. Alumni and currently attending student chefs are short-order cooks and baristas here, with several self-serve areas as well.
The Smat is nestled in Soowees Living, and an entire wall looks out onto a field, with the Raunt Mountains clear in the distance.
There are several large stone pillars throughout The Smat as well as one partial brick wall with a small, oblong window in it along the glass wall. Varying tables matching the House colors are scattered around, with varied larger-than-life chairs and booths surrounding them. Student paintings, both magical and non, hang on the pillars and brick walls, giving The Smat a very cozy feeling. There are also lovely hanging and recessed lights throughout, giving the place a bright, cheerful feel no Taurer what the time of day.
A large section of the wall next to the front counter is covered with a giant blackboard that stretches from floor to ceiling where student customers can write their order. Their order is then magically transferred to a similar wall inside the kitchen area where the student cooks work on it and send it to the front for pick-up.
Enjoy!
(think of the above, combined a bit with this kind of coziness).
