Listed below are the IC (or in-character) rules of Soowees Magic Academy
(RESPECT---)
Students are to follow all instructions from staff at all times unless the instructions will endanger someone, in which case they are to report immediately to their Head of House, Vice Principal Ahmed, or Principal Avau.
(MAGIC USAGE---)
A) There is no magic allowed in Soowees Living, except in Practice Rooms at the Rec Center, and especially not the dorms/common rooms. Soowees Main is primarily for housing, social activities, and book/non-practical studies. The bulk of the practice of magic will be done at Soowees Learning, the education building. Speaking of which, no magic is to be done in the halls of Soowees Learning; only classrooms and designated places (i.e. the Dueling Center, self-repairing Spell Structure & Casting classrooms, etc). Magic use outside is also frowned upon. In other words,
B) ANY use of magic AGAINST a student or staff member is strictly forbidden, the exception being with permission (in a practical setting, like a classroom for example) or for safety/defense of life.
C) There is NO teleporting on school grounds unless students are taking place in the Teleportation workshop to get their Teleportation License.
(DRESS CODE---)
Here at SMA, we do not have uniforms; students are free to wear what they'd like. That said, please have your character dress appropriately. Please do not be explicit or have your character dress in clothes that are revealing, especially on school campus. (OOC note: This is actually a rule, to have the site remain PG13, in the Proboards Terms and Conditions)
(DORMITORIES---)
As stated above, there is to be no magic in the dorms or the common areas. In character, when someone, or something, uses magic in the dorms or common areas, their hands and feet are covered in paint the color of their year, and it cannot be removed, whatsoever.* The Ambassador of that Year has either a buzzer or a light that will go off when magic is used in their Year's dorms/common areas, and they will be responsible for discipline, depending on the severity of the magic used. Be mindful of yourself and fellow students.
•If any person plans on moving from one dorm to another with an ill intent, then their path is simply blocked. The worse the intent, the stronger the barrier that deflects them.
*Intruders will be identified in a similar way to magic users. Intruders may be from another Year, or a magical creature etc. The only difference is that the paint afflicts the hands and feet. For a student, it will numb the hands and feet, but severely burn a being with ill intent. This is in an effort to keep students safe from any sort of harm, of course.
(OUTSIDE OF CLASS---)
A) If any student must leave class at any time for any reason (bathroom, called out of class) they will require a hall pass, and must use it in a timely manner. Any student found wandering the halls during school hours without a hall pass will face, at least, detention.
B ) All students will report to Soowees Main by 6pm every weeknight, no exceptions.
C) All students will report to Soowees Main by sundown on weekends, except for Celestial Sciences classes or otherwise under supervision from staff.
This code is very important and it is suggested that if you are unsure of something having to do with the code that you urgently PM Principal Avau or VP Ahmed before doing anything about it. As a general rule, SMA has a PG rating, so keep that in mind.
As a basic rule (and to keep things a bit simpler across the board), detention will be the primary method of punishment, followed by consultations with the Principal facing expulsion. We know this isn't a REAL school, but we take pride in being a safe space both in character and out. With that, we move on to the rules for when out of character, as seen below.

Please respect ALL members, including staff. If you have an issue with another student, please attempt to work it out with them first, calmly, before contacting your Year's Ambassador. All staff have been chosen by Principal Avau herself. If there is ever an issue with a staff member, discuss it first with that staff member. If you do not feel you can resolve it in that manner after several attempts, contact Vice Principal Ahmed or Principal Avau.
(WHEN ROLEPLAYING---)
Please try your best to type more than 100 words while in character. We understand that muse is fleeting, but give it your best effort – try to turn those two sentences into two (brief or not so brief) paragraphs with internal conflict or thought, outward observations, something similar. Also, please practice good grammar. This is the modern age and we trust your computer has spell check so, before you post, please make sure you proofread. Also, please avoid pestering your fellow RPers about posting – we all have lives, so give it a couple of days before getting on other people’s case.
Important: God-modding (or the act of controlling another character's actions) is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN. This is the unspoken rule of RPing anywhere and it is also extremely rude. In other words, DO NOT say that your character's actions directly affected another's - simply imply that your action/s (i.e. a spell aimed at another) was headed there way or your character hoped it would land, NOT that it DID. Any questions about what is God-moding and what is not, please contact VP Ahmed or Principal Avau via PM.
(LANGUAGE---)
All language will be kept PG (both in and out of character) via censoring on the admin panel. Please simply refrain from cursing OOC, as it ruins the experience for many. This is an all-ages board, and as this is the internet, people may attend from all over the world. Please, be kind and courteous of this fact.
(MISCELLANEOUS---)
Please keep your icons at 100x100 and your banners at around 500 width max – if you’d like, I, Principal Avau, will make your graphics fit the desired parameters, just do not stretch the boards, please. Simply PM me if you would like this done for we will address it as soon as possible. And if you are posting a photo on the boards, please keep it 500 width max too. Also, when you’re writing, you can be creative with the layout of your text, but keep it legible and neat, please.
As a general note, this roleplay is not associated with Harry Potter, just initially inspired by that world. Also, bear in mind that this is an American institution. Immigrants are, of course, welcome but really think about your character's heritage upon creation.
Now that these rules are up, students are expected to please respect them to the fullest extent. So, go get started on your application in "The Players" board. Once you’re approved by me, Principal Avau, and/or the staff, you may start your journey into SOOWEES MAGICAL ACADEMY - happy writing!
