HISTORY
Soowees Magic Academy was founded in Southwestern America during the 1800s, when Mormons invaded the region. When invasions began, traditional indigenous knowledge of the magic arts was suppressed by the invaders and became hidden away for posterity.
Soowees was originally one of three hidden locations for the preservation of indigenous knowledge, thus the simple name. Over time, the three schools were consolidated into one, and Soowees began opening its doors to fellow indigenous people for knowledge preservation. After several decades of internal discussion, and after careful consideration, Soowees also opened its doors to many other oppressed races. Only in the late 1900s did Soowees finally open its doors to outsiders, in a cooperative measure with some local familial descendants of the few Mormons who had opposed the invasion and actively fought against it.
The school has been touted by many as a wixen (magic persons') world version of a liberal arts school, though our main focus is indigenous knowledge and preservation of numerous suppressed forms of non-latin magic. Our other focuses are also magical engineering, and the advancement of Morphology and "Aniguise" (animal disguise) studies.
In magical engineering, we combine non-magic "green" energy solutions such as solar, wind, and hydro and combine them with different magics to enhance their energy output; for example, light spells powered by solar panels instead of a constant spellcaster to create constant sunlight in a greenhouse or provide extra energy to crops for better and larger produce.
In Aniguise Morphology studies, we are at the founders and forefront of the field. We've employed the top Aniguise in the wixen world, Dr. Vasant Jadu, and his team of knowledgeable assistants and fellow doctors. We have sponsored them for many years, and are excited both at the advancements made and the application of indigenous knowledge to the field. (More on Morphology as well as other classes as soon as we can!) As we now look to the future, you'll find our mission statement outlined below.
MISSION STATEMENT
At Soowees Magic Academy, we have a three-pronged mission: Preservation, Integration, and Advancement.
-Preservation of indigenous knowledge is of utmost importance to us, as the school was founded for this specific reason. We strive to learn about and preserve as much and as many forms of indigenous magic as possible and are beginning to include preservation of global indigenous knowledge as well as local and national.
-Integration of indigenous knowledge and non-magic ingenuity are central to the everyday functioning of Soowees Magic Academy, as well. Green energies and indigenous magic combine to make a one-of-a-kind school farm, state-of-the-art water filtration and capture facilities, and forefront of the field lycanthropy studies.
-Advancement of all magics and technology also advance our school and make it accommodating for people of all walks of life. People of differing abilities and neurodevelopmental strengths are easily involved in all aspects of school life, with moving walkways, soundproof rooms for stimming and de-stressing, and well-trained empathetic staff to help all students of all needs.
Humanity cannot move forward without these core values, and our mission is to instill these values in our students as well. Taking to heart traditional knowledge and the strength of such, integrating it into daily life, and using current and future technology alongside indigenous knowledge and current forms of magic to advance our growth is a beautiful endeavor, and one we wish to share in it with you.
