Come one, Come all, to Oddities & Ends!
Oddities & Ends is a little curiosity shoppe tucked away on ze corner of Union Street and Mill Street in ze Mahgoohah Square.
Outside, it is a two-story building; ze top 'alf is white, and ze bottom 'alf is red. Zere are multiple windows along ze front and sides downstairs, framed in white. Ze top windows 'ave red shutters framing zem. Zere is a little concrete stairway with green metal railing framing ze stairs and landing just outside ze maroon door. Box 'edges sit to ze right side of ze landing, and a garden bench with another box 'edge sit to ze left. Seasonal decor, when appropriate, can be seen along ze windows, railing, and garden boxes along ze front. The sign is always dusty and a little blurry.
Inside is another story entirely.
On ze main floor, magnified by exposed beams and both recessed and hanging lighting (in rubbed oiled bronze), zere are all sorts of trinkets and gadgets, including permanently 'alf-way transfigured items. Zere are apothecary findings, Celestial Sciences and divination tools, pensieves, and other tools for advanced studies at ze Academy. Ev'rything is scattered about in a seemingly unkempt fashion, but it is all organized in Pierre's mind. Zere is a large check-out counter in ze middle of ze room, set before a large staircase with a switchback leading to ze upstairs; croissants are usually sitting zere for customers. Zere is a back store-room for keeping things until zey are ready to go to ze floor, and zere is a trapdoor zat leads to a basement corridor. Ze basement corridor seemingly leads nowhere. Out ze back door, zere is a stone walkway, with some comfortable-looking seating, lined with impeccably-kempt topiary 'edges, zat leads to a tiny table basse meant for four.
Ze upstairs is actually two stories inside, not one as it appears outside.
Ze main floor upstairs is for relaxing. Zere is a large sunroom zat overlooks ze back of ze building into ze small garden courtyard, and a kitchen with a breakfast nook is next to ze sunroom. In ze front iz a lounge room with a locked wine coffret, heavy maroon velvet rideaux with goldenrod cravates and fleur de lys hooks, and several large French paintings, including one of ze "French Quarter" in New Orleans, and one of Champs Elysees at Christmas.
Ze top floor consists of a short, wide hallway about one-third of the way in from ze side of ze house. Two-thirds of ze top floor is Pierre's bedroom. Ze other third is an open loft, partitioned off with wood railing to keep anyone from falling down ze stairs. A third of ze area is covered with a play rug for Pierre's nephew, Emmet, and ze other two-thirds is open for running around, with one long elaborate chaise lounge and matching table.
