Well. That settled that. Aurelie had invited and tried cheering up and showing interest.
And Caleb had shut her down entirely.
She turned to look at the rain outside, barely hearing him anymore.
"I think I'll be fine. Sorry to have inconvenienced you." Aurelie stepped out, quiet as a feather and swift as the wind. The door shut, and Aurelie paused a moment, tears mingling with the soft rain. She reached into her purse, into the magic space, and pulled out a wide-brimmed sun hat and tugged it on.
Hiding was nice. Hiding was comforting.
Aurelie hid in plain sight and turned to walk to her apartment, never to risk returning again.
